There’s something truly special and magical about our little slice of heaven. Despite children running away and the occasional stick fight, today this band of 20-some kids played hard all day – no toys – just a pair of secateurs, some string and the great wild world.
Obviously now that the mud has dried and the sun is (sometimes) shining it’s a lot easier to keep spirits high. But the sense of community, the friendships (both kid and grown up), and the absolute necessity of hunting zombies and alien farmers brings freedom and safety. And that, to me, is what builds us up, makes us strong and does so much to develop an attachment to nature and instill a sense of wonder in our world.
